Your instructor will assign a Graduate Status Project at the end of your course. This project is required for those studying currently in Graduate Programs at Seattle University. Those not currently in programs are encouraged to complete this project as Seattle University will accept credits taken as graduate status into various master's programs within a six year window. Up to 12 credits may be protected for graduate status credit. When is the project due?The project is due one month from the ending date of your given course. If your course ends on the 15th of a given month, then it is due the 15th of the following month. It is the student's responsibility to mark that date on their calendar! What if I can't complete the Graduate Status Project within the month?Seattle University is very strict with deadlines. If you cannot complete the project within the month, an extension must be requested by your original due date. Email extension requests to Kim Darcy at hasegawa@seattleu.edu. Extensions cannot be granted by telephone, the request must be by email. If you do not complete the project after the extension deadline, you will not receive graduate credit for that class. Will I receive the project back? No. Please make a copy for yourself before submitting the project to S-TESL. Can I email the project? No. We need a hard copy. I'm finished with the project. What do I do?Send the project to S-TESL attn: Kim Darcy (not your instructor) Can I bring the project in personally?Yes, of course. PLEASE CALL FIRST. Our office hours vary. Normal office hours are Monday-Thursday 9:00-5:00 and Fridays from 9:00 - 2:30. Do you have a drop box or mail slot for the project? No. Please do not leave the project outside or try to slip it under the door. There is not a secure location to leave it unattended. Also, please do not bother the tenants in the building, as they are unable to accept your project. When will I receive word of pass/fail?Allow approximately one month for the reader to evaluate the project. If your project is not accepted the first time, your reader will ask for a re-write. The re-write request, with specific instructions from your reader, will come from the S-TESL office and you will have an additional three weeks to complete the re-write. There is an additional $50 fee for a re-write. What happens if a re-write is requested? An administrator will contact you with the re-write request and provide you with a re-write due date. There is a $50 re-write fee. You are given only one re-write opportunity. There are no exceptions to this policy. If your re-write is not deemed acceptable, you will need to take the class again if you wish to complete a graduate project and protect the credits for graduate status. What happens after the project has been accepted? You will receive documentation from the S-TESL. If you are a current SU graduate student a copy of the documents will be forwarded to the SU College of Education. If you have more questions or need further clarification, please contact Kim Darcy, Director of Admissions: hasegawa@seattleu.edu or phone: 206-781-8607. |
