International AdmissionsCitizens from other countries are admitted to the school on exactly the same basis as citizens of the United States. Tuition for international students is the same as for citizens of the United States. All application materials must be submitted in English. NOTE: S-TESL admissions requires an official sealed transcript (a list of grades for all classes taken) from your university in English. An official and sealed diploma, or degree certificate, will not suffice. S-TESL will only accept an official and sealed transcript as proof of degree. English ProficiencyAll international students, with the exception of those who have completed their degree at an English-speaking university, must demonstrate English proficiency by:
I-20: New and TransferBefore S-TESL's admissions department can begin I-20 processing, students must meet the English proficiency requirements, and degree requirements, outlined above. International students must study full time (9 credits per quarter) in order to qualify for an I-20 document. Before registration, students requesting an I-20 must email Admissions Director, Kim Darcy at hasegawa@seattleu.edu. The email must contain the following information:
Documentation of Degree Note:For students who obtained their degree from a non-US institution, it is sometimes beneficial to begin the documentation process well in advance of program completion. Processes to obtain official document ion from international universities is highly variable and can be very lengthy, especially if official translation is required.
If you obtained your degree from a non-US institution, including institutions in Canada or Mexico, you are strongly encouraged to contact Admissions Director, Kim Darcy prior to completion of certificate requirements. Kim Darcy will access your situation and discuss your specific document requirements. Delays in the issuing of certificates can result if your situation is not accessed prior to graduation.
To assist Kim Darcy in keeping a record of your individual situation all correspondence regarding documentation should be via email only. Reading/Writing Proficiency TestInternational students who have not graduated from an English language university, or who are not gaining admittance by TOEFL score or completion of an approved English language program, may petition to take language placement exam to determine their English language proficiency in academic reading and writing.
